About Black Liquorice

I started doing art a long, long time ago - as long ago as I can remember. It wasn't until about a year ago that I really got involved in digital art, and in wanting to put my traditional artwork online for people to view, buy, whatever. I can't exactly remember when I decided to get a website, but it was sometime after I got really into web-surfing and saw all these awesome sites online everywhere and wanted one of my own, just to see if I could. Way back when I was even more sugar-obsessed than I am now, I was pretty much associated with candy by everyone who knew me, so it was a given that the name of my website should have something to do with candy. The website went through various stages of 'in progress' and 'under construction' with a hundred different names before, somehow, I settled on Black Liquorice. My reasoning was something along the lines of 'Everyone hates black liquorice, so no one will have the same name as me!' Not exactly an exciting, meaningful premise for the name of a website, but good enough for me. After that it just became a natural thing for me. I associate the title Black Liquorice with my artwork rather than black sticky candy that's way better red and strawberry-flavored. I decided on Bravenet for a host because my good friend Dhodrimme was using it and it looked easy to work with and not terribly complicated. Little did I know that it was absolutely nothing like building Myspace profiles from scratch or using nifty Freewebs templates. =P After a few months of trying one thing after another to get it to work, I finally did some good and got the website ready for other people to view. The request-via-website idea was just something I tacked on because most of the graphics I do are for other people and it seemed silly to have all this stuff I made for other people available for viewing, but with no way to request anything. After all, I do like to keep busy. I love running a website, however much hassle it can be sometimes when I decide to completely revamp. Over all, it's been really, really fun.
